The flower design is permanent because the design is kiln-fired into the glaze & will never fade. I kiln-fire the dishes to over 2100o F, creating a permanent design that's part of the pottery glaze itself. These dishes are very durable. The design will never fade & are dishwasher & microwave safe. Thanks to these durable dishes, these much loved Columbine flowers will be used & enjoyed for generations to come.
