Very Rare Vintage Mug Root Beer Bottle Cap, San Francisco, California 1960s The caps are highly collectible & I don't have many of them. You can't find these out there anymore. Mug was developed in 1940 by the Belfast Beverage Company which was famous for the sparkling water & ginger ale they had been producing since 1877. They were purchased in 1925 by Crush makers New Century Beverage Company. in 1986 Pepsi purchased New Century & changed the mascot on Mug to a bulldog. This was bottled by an American Icon Crown Holding which used to be Crown Cork & Seal Company which started in 1892 & today produces 1 out of every 5 cans of beverages made & also 1 out of 3 cans of food in the world.
