Our bridal backdrop necklace is handmade with natural Welo opal gemstones for the bride with a backless wedding dress. A minimal lariat style in your choice of 925 sterling silver, 14K gold or rose gold filled. The front is a dainty choker and the back has clusters of opals adorned with tiny beads with a small Herkimer crystal at the end of the drop for a little extra sparkle. The opal found in the cliffs of Wegel Tena in the Wollo Province of Ethiopia was discovered by farmers in 2008 along horizontal layers of volcanic rock.Opals have “play of color” which is created by the light reflecting off of silica spheres in the stone. They can display a variety of colors when turning the stone at different angles. Each opal is unique in the colors they display, the vibrancy, and hues of color.
