It has a protective seal on the front and back which gives the wood an extra pretty luster. The disc itself is 5.5” and the wood is 1/8" thick, making this disc lightweight which is great when using near a little one. The engraved areas can vary in color/darkness dependent on the specific piece of wood used for your order.I would always suggest trying out the pen you want to use on the back of the disc first to make sure it gives you the look you like.
