The feature at top is Jupiter's Great Red Spot, believed to be a giant storm system, several times the size of the Earth, which has survived for at least the past 200 years. The colourful, wavy cloud patterns below & to left of the Spot are believed to be regions of complex atmospheric wave motion. This image was assembled from three black & white images in the Image Processing Lab. at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Pasadena, California.
