Once a year, there is a ceremony where anyone who is sixteen years through eighteen years of age, where your job is decided for you. This is the job you get you to have to do until death hits you. Ophelia Waters just turned sixteen when the old guy chooses their fate ceremony came around. When she stood to receive her job, everything went wrong. Now she has to save her friends and family while battling her head from her severe anxiety. Grant Waters is Ophelias' brother. He was eighteen when he went to the choosing ceremony. While trying to comprehend everything that is happening around him, Grant tries to help his sister. He becomes an overbearing, protective brother. During all of this, he is battling his mind from his anger issues and insecurities. Lorenzo Lee is the son of governor Benjamin Lee. He befriends Ophelia and does whatever he can to help her while he's suffering from emotional and physical abuse from his evil father.
