Consumerism Ashore is a series of locally sourced, hand-painted seashells that began in April 2020 as a creative pastime during the latter weeks of quarantine. What started as a hobby quickly evolved into a formal body of work commenting on the dichotomy of materiality coloring natural seashells with synthetic, acrylic paint as well as the significance of branding, mainstream iconography, found objects, and appropriation in the canon of 20th century art history.
