The current Swine Flu (H1N1) strain is a mélange of genetic RNA sequences from three separate hosts: piggy bird and human. By a process called “reassortment” (sounds a lot like “mutation” to us but accuracy is our life!) a new strain is formed which may be highly virulent and transmissible.
