Description

Ghanaian artisan Samuel Ashong creates a stunning batik painting on cotton. Samuel draws his unique design on the fabric, before applying wax to the areas that should remain untouched. He then adds colored dye to the rest of the image, resulting in a beautiful canvas of color. This batik art shows empty canoes lined up at the shoreline, marking this as the day where fishermen take some well deserved rest after their busy schedules of fishing and trading. It is believed that this day of rest enables the sea to increase its fish stock. The artwork is signed by the artisan.
