Antique Postcards with RARE Stamps-Sidney NY 1912-Calendar Post Cards-Antique Advertising-Ben Franklin & George Washington One Cent Stamps Offering is for 2 antique post cards with collectible stamps, being sold TOGETHER AS A SET! Both postmarked 1912. Both from: George L. Lyon & Son Dealers in D&H Coal, Flour, Feed & Grain Sidney New York Both have One Cent stamps, both were postmarked/canceled & both bear the name in handwritten script: W.H. Laraway Not sure why they were called calendar postcards since neither have a calendar, but both are nice examples of antique advertising with collectible stamps. I think the business used these cards to entice people into their store. Both have not been graded or certified! Description with Condition: #1 - The Old Barn with a penny stamp featuring Ben Franklin: On back, top right hand side is printed the "D & H" Last Chance to buy Coal at low prices this year. Buy Before July 1 On bottom it says: a blurb about Feed Prices slightly lower but with crop outlook, would hardly expect feed to be cheap this year & a Try Lyon's pure ground oats & Husted's fancy meal for horses (July) Card is in good condition considering age. Right lower corner is significantly bent-see last photo. Back has stains, soil & some paper loss which appears to have been from tape torn from it. Ben Franklin stamp is in nice condition with light ink postal lines going through it. #2-Sentinel Trees with a penny stamp featuring George Washington On back, sideways is printed an illustrated sack with: Husted's Feeds Sold by Geo L. Lyons & Son Dealers in D & H Coal Flour, Feed & Grain Sidney N.Y George Washington stamp also in nice condition with light ink postal lines going through it. Card itself has a deep creased upper right hand corner but not bent. Front illustration has water ? stains-see 2nd to last photo, as well as age related discoloration. Back has a piece of tape on lower left hand bottom & some staining as well. Both cards measure: 3.5" x 5.5" Both have pre-made holes for hanging on top in middle.
