COELACANTH, THE SCIENCE CLASS CARD SERIES This is an original linocut print, limited edition of 8. This series is the result of exploring IG prompt initiative "Printer Solstice" taking inspiration from nature & old school science book illustrations. For prompt No. 11 "A WELL MADE MISTAKE" I wanted to represent COELACANTH. This incredible fish was first discovered in the 1930sin the Comoro Islands but up to that time it was believed to be extinct since the Cretaceous period & only known by fossils. This print has been hand-carved from an original drawing. After hand-inking I use a beautiful Victorian book press to complete the process. All prints are numbered & signed. Printed with Cranfield oil based ink in green colour onto 190gsm off white acid free semi-smooth paper. Please note that each print is completely unique so speckling & print finishes may vary slightly from the photos. The same applies to the tones in colour.
