New Mexico Sky Musing, Number 5 ~ Hint of Autumn on the Wings Original contemporary abstract New Mexico landscape painting by artist Dawn Chandler New Mexico Sky Musing Number 5 emerged from my imagination.... memories of late summer merging into autumn across the high desert. Though green still abounds, some leaves & grasses begin their transformation to burnished tones of autumn. Surely it's those warm burnished colors in the foreground that conjure the hint of autumn for me. You wake up one morning & there's a chill in the air and, you inhale satisfyingly the fragrance of pinon woodsmoke mixed with roasting green chiles.... As with my other Sky Musings, words are ghosted in the background of Number 5. These descriptive bits of text stem from a journal entry I made in which I wrote about my love affair with the landscape of Northern New Mexico especially that of the Taos area. Look carefully as the words reveal a sort of poetry. in this one though, the words are nearly impossible to make out. More than anything they add a bit of visual "texture" to the painting, as well as mystery. { Read more about my abstract landscape paintings below } This painting is painted on sturdy panel & wired on the back for immediate display; the edges/sides of the painting have been painted a flat grey rendering a frame optional.
