New Mexico Sky Musing, No. 1 ~ My Soul Expands Original contemporary abstract New Mexico landscape painting by artist Dawn Chandler HOORAY! Here we have the very FIRST of my series of 8" x 8" "New Mexico Sky Musings" paintings celebrating our gorgeous New Mexico skies in a semi-abstract painterly style. New Mexico Sky Musing, No. 1 is inspired by a particularly beautiful late summer evening out on the Taos mesa, when the sky was simply ALIVE with cloud movement & color. Although most of my Sky Musings aren't of an exact location, this one is based on the stunning view from a friend's home on Taos Mesa, looking east to the Sangres. As you study this, notice the words ghosted in the background. These descriptive bits of text stem from a journal entry I made in which I wrote about my love affair with the landscape of New Mexico. This painting is painted on sturdy panel & wired on the back for immediate display; the edges/sides of the painting have been painted a flat grey rendering a frame optional. This is an original, one-of-a-kind painting by Dawn Chandler.
