New Mexico Sky Musing, Number 7 ~ Original contemporary abstract New Mexico landscape painting by artist Dawn Chandler I love that dark passage in the upper left of this painting, & how it contrasts so sharply against the white highlighted crests of the cloud. & that big, round robust cloud! It just seems to radiate energy! I love the roundness of it, like it's a big glowing ball of sky energy. I love, too, the creamy green "underline" below the cloud an accidental & surprising color, yet it works! & I enjoy the suggestion of mesas fading to the distant sky; their outline reminds me of the landscape between Raton & Cimarron, New Mexico, on the east side of Hwy 64. Once again words descriptive bits of text from my New Mexico journals are ghosted in the background, only this time passages of text are cropped & turned so that they read every-which way. { Read more about my abstract landscape paintings below } This painting is painted on sturdy panel & wired on the back for immediate display; the edges/sides of the painting have been painted a flat grey rendering a frame optional.
