Description
An exceptional antique Asian Vellum campaign trunk on a fitted hand carved hardwood footed low stand (ideal proportions for use as a coffee table, cocktail drinks table, end table, blanket chest). The light trunk is dates to the second half of the 19th century, Jiangsu Province, China, hand-crafted, rectangular in form, having substantial sized metal hardware, including a pair of chunky buckle clasps to the front & large forged wrought iron handles to each flank. The chest top lifts to reveal large spacious open interior providing generous storage, & rests on a stepped platform base, rising on four short shaped legs, the stand having simple lines & carved accents. Legally sourced/exported, retaining original Chinese export red wax seal. Signed, stamped to verso. Dimensions: Box on stand: 31" Wide, 19" High, 20" Deep. 13" High (w/o stand) Very good condition.
