Bay Colony Antiques is pleased to offer for sale this wonderful 19th century antique Sheraton period fancy paint rocking chair. This is a really choice example with a wonderful undisturbed folk art painted surface, comfortable shaped seat, & original turned legs & rocker blades. We really don't sell many single chairs because shipping can be cost prohibitive. There really has to be something special about them & this example definitely made the cut. This is a true rocking chair not a conversion as you can see from the dramatic rake of the back. The crest & spindles have a nice gold stenciling & the crest has nice cutouts along the bottom edge. The crest has one of the absolute sweetest paint decorations with cornucopias at either edge & a hen with her 4 chicks at the center.
