Description

This original linocut "Cygnet Sanctuary", captures the colours & textures of the coastal wetland reserve in the little Southern Tasmanian town of Cygnet. This linocut was originally created as part of the "Overwintering Project", a collection of printmaker's visions of migratory shorebird habitats, raising awareness of these often endangered birds. I love the wetlands at Cygnet, depicted here in winter when the colours of the plantlife are vibrant, even though many of the birds are summering elsewhere. The rich colours & the reflection of the sky in the pools really take my breath away. I hand carve the lino block & print with oil based printing ink onto quality warm white Stonehenge printmakers paper. I hand colour each print individually with watercolour. The prints are numbered with the edition limited to 20, with 2 already part of the Overwintering Project. The print image itself is 19cm x 19cm & the paper is larger as pictured. The paper has a deckled/torn edge. Your print is shipped flat, mounted on a piece of acid-free foam core & wrapped in cello wrap. This ensures is reaches you in perfect condition. It also means you can easily wrap it if you would like to give it as a gift. For Australian residents, check the Overwintering Project website for travelling exhibition dates & places, to see this wonderful collection of prints in person.
