This original watercolor painting is from my 100 day butterfly project, which you can view over on my Instagram. The butterfly is called the orange sulphur, or Colias eurytheme. The butterfly in this painting is life-size, & measures 2 inches across. The whole painting measures 4x4 inches. This was painted on Arches 300 lb. cold press watercolor paper, using professional watercolor paint. Butterflies are symbolic of transformation & hope. I thought about that a lot as I painted these during the hard times our world has been going through lately. They remind me that transformation is possible, & to hold onto hope, even when things look bleak. It was deeply cathartic to work on these butterflies during these last few months, & I hope that this collection gives you that same sense of comfort that they gave me.
