"October" (2014) PRINT of an original watercolor by Meagan Segal. Hand-signed. The tenth edition in my 2014 calendar series, each featuring a graphite skull & that month's birthstone & flower in watercolor. Opal is the perfect stone to represent the month of fall & Halloween; here the multi-colored stone forms the top of the cranium, while a festive marigold sits at its jaw. According to the Victorian language of flowers, marigolds are the blossom of grief, a perfect compliment to the rainbow hues of the opal. A little dark, a little lovely... creepy/pretty. Inkjet print on hot-press bright white archival paper. Lustrous tonal range & brilliant colors with a lightfast rating of 72 years.
