About yerba mate: Yerba mate tea also known as mate is a coffeine rich infused drink. It is native to subtropical South America in northeastern Argentina, Bolivia, southern Brazil, Uruguay & Paraguay. It is prepared by steeping dry leaves (and twigs) of the mate plant in hot water, rather than in boiling water. As mate leafs are finely grated, it is drank with a straw called bombilla. The flavor of brewed mate is strongly vegetal, herbal, & grassy, reminiscent of some varieties of green tea.
