These finely woven beaded baskets are complex, woven with the finest sisal fibre & embellished with colourful massai beads. It takes 4-5days to finish one of these baskets. Ideal for makeup brushes, crayons & pencils, loose change, decor, small succulent plant pot cover, adding natural texture & colour to your space. Handmade by a self help group of lady weavers in a remote rural village in Kenya. Due to the arid/dry environment the women rely on weaving before the rainy season. Working directly with the weavers ensures fair trade & sustainability bringing financial security & providing additional income to sustain their livelihood. We use 100% locally grown environmental friendly sisal with high quality fibres. . Woven from sisal (perennial succulent) extracting the fibre is a sincere labour of love. The fibre is then dried, brushed & dyed with natural food products. It takes few days or up to a week to finish a basket depending with the size & complexity of the design.
