An American Classical Maple Gate Leg Table from the early 19th century. Handcrafted in Baltimore, Maryland, circa 1830, the exceptional antique table morphs between a demilune console table & double the size game table. Having a solid maple joined plank top with twisted & tapered hand turned legs & a broad curly maple apron. There is little decoration beyond the burl inlaid cartouches at the top of each leg. A fine example of nineteenth century American furniture. Dimensions (approx): 28-7/8 x 44-3/8 x 20-1/8 inches (closed) Excellent condition. Original, antique condition. May have very minor wear consistent with age. Excellent construction & quality. Solid/sturdy. Delivered moderately restored; cleaned, waxed, polished & ready for many more years of use.
