Description
A watercolour wash of colour, the Sunset plates display a range of colours from beige to peach & soft grey. Handmade in Oaxaca, a state rich in pre-hispanic pottery tradition, the clay has a tactile finish with a subtle shine. PRODUCTION The workshop takes the natural clay & cleans it by filtering it for 20 days. The clay is then smoked to create the black colour & burnished rather than glazed, by polishing the surface with a quartz crystal until it has a glossy finish with a warm glow. The pieces are then fired in underground pits or kilns, using a wood fire. The pale terracotta is oxidised during firing, leaving the pieces with varied finish on a spectrum from beige to peach. CARE & INFO This plate is burnished to create a beautiful shine & waterproof, food safe finish. Hand wash with hot water, organic soup & a sponge. You can be confident using forks & spoons but be careful with sharp knives as they can scratch the piece. Due to the item's kiln firing, each piece is different & has a unique colour profile from beige to peach. SIZE 25 cm diameter 2 cm high 0.7 cm thick IMPORTANT These are food safe but it should be noted that with use they will become permanently stained if any foods with oil or color are put on them which is part of the unique magic of the natural background of its production, this characteristic is what makes that world known restaurants use them in their menu as you can not get this effect with any other industrial type of production. 2 Dinner Plates 25cm Sunset- Handmade Clay - Oaxacan Burnished
