The fine vintage piece, circa 1940s, features beautiful parquetry inlays of geometric motifs throughout with rosewood decorated with chiseled & gilded bronze ormolu mounts. Having a shaped top, over the upper drawer with dovetail joinery & scrolled gilt-bronze pulls, overtop a central cabinet with brilliant faux book spines decorating & concealing the door, opening to reveal a finished interior, a gilt-metal ormolu mounted apron, rising on cabriole legs, joined by a lower shelf, the legs ending on bronze sabots. Ideal proportions for use in the bedroom as a nightstand, side or end table, lamp stand or occasional table.
