Madison, Wisconsin, like any beloved location, has been given many nicknames: Madtown, Mad City, The Berkeley of the Midwest, & 78 square miles surrounded by reality. My favorite is the city's trademark: Lake, City, Lake. Madison is a city on an isthmus, a little utopia nestled on a strip of land between two beautiful lakes. We spent nearly nine lovely years here. My husband earned his PhD near the shores of Lake Mendota, we were married along the bank of Lake Monona, & our two daughters were born a stone's throw from little Lake Wingra. All three of these lakes are featured here in this original, layered papercut piece. This is handmade in Minnesota, in a deliciously rich set of Royal blues, & worked from Wisconsin DNR data. This unique piece is intricately cut from five layers of high quality, acid-free cardstock. The top layer is a bright white, while the layers underneath are in ever-darker shades of color. Because this piece is handmade, it will differ very slightly from piece pictured here. The back is titled, signed & dated as an original piece. The work measures 8 x 10 inches (about 20 x 25 cm), & is about 1/8" thick. It will be sent to you carefully wrapped & supported to ensure it arrives safely.
