Great Misery Island is a print made from an original oil painting by Hillary Holmes. It is printed on heavy weight paper with high pigment inks. Great Misery Islands are a nature preserve located off the coast of Salem Harbor in Salem, MA, although they technically lie in the aquatic territory of neighboring Beverly, MA. The islands got their grim name from a ship captain who was stranded on the islands during a snowstorm in 1620. This view of the islands is as they are seen from West Beach in Beverly Farms, MA. in this painting they are fancifully imagined with bright colors & interesting terrain. The sky & water are a traditional New England grey that gives you the relaxing feel of the Massachusetts coastline.
