Black Vintage Marcel Breuer for Thonet B32 Variation Cesca Wicker Chrome Cantilever Chair The Cesca chair, a Modernist classic, features cane wicker seating in jet black birchwood on a one-piece bent tubular chromed steel frame. Designed in 1928, Marcel Breuer's B32 chair married traditional craftsmanship with industrial methods & materials to help make tubular steel furniture an international sensation & a modern institution. The cantilevered form exploits the possibilities unique to the material & gives the chair added flexibility & comfort. The piece works exceptionally well as a dining chair or for one's desk or even in a cafe or bistro. Origin: produced in Germany in the 1980s by Thonet. Maker's mark present. An exquisitely rare piece. Condition: in good vintage shape. The chrome frames show minimal signs of wear from previous use, no signs of rust. The wooden frames are in fair condition, with bumps & marks along the edges especially. The wicker seats have a beautiful tan colour & still possess perfect tension, although there is quite a visible break in the thread in the middle of the seat, as a result we highly recommend using the chair in a gentle manner. Please note that the chair will travel disassembled for added safety, with the wooden parts wrapped separately from the chrome frame.
