Vintage mid century pair of authentic signed silk Jim Thompson pillows. One boasts a butterfly scene & the other features a floral design & border. Both pillows have their ultra mid century designs on both sides (including signatures on both sides). They were designed by famous designer Jim Thompson in Thailand in the 1950's & 1960's. They are in excellent condition! James Harrison Wilson Thompson was a famous American designer in the mid century era. Time magazine claimed he "almost singlehandedly saved Thailand's vital silk industry from extinction". He was born in 1906 & disappeared in 1967. At the time of his disappearance he was one of the most famous Americans living in Asia & his disappearance from the Cameron Highlands generated one of the largest land searches in Southeast Asian history, & is one of the most famous mysteries in the region.
