Description
A highly ornate 19th Century hand carved symmetrical design folding headrest or foldable stool. This piece has interlocking pieces of wood (probably cedar). No metal hinges or screws are used in the construction of this piece & it is carved from one piece of wood it seems. Origin is believed to be from Afghanistan or Pakistan but could be from Northern Africa as well. The patina on the wood is exquisite, I am sure the photos does not show the beauty of this piece. It is in very good condition strong & sturdy. This is a very old piece, certainly from around 1820's. It will make a wonderful accent piece in any interior & could certainly last another 100 years. Measures opened: wide 17.00 inches & height 11.00 inches (43.50 x 28.00 cm).
