Description

Title: Blackbirds & Brambles Size: The folded card is 15cm square; or 15cm x 30cm when the design is opened up. Occasion: Anytime! Especially appropriate in the late summer & autumn Inside: blank for your own message Materials: Smooth matte white board Envelope: kraft brown square envelope with a coral inner liner 'Blackbirds & Brambles' is a drawing all about the benefits of having a bramble bush in the garden. It features two delighted blackbirds enjoying feasting on the blackberries. The purple-black berries are a wonderful food source for garden birds, pheasants, foxes, mice & other mammals in August/September, but a bramble bush in the garden provides year-round benefits for wildlife. From May to September, the pinkish white flowers provide nectar & pollen for bees, hoverflies, moths, butterflies & lacewings. The dense thickets are excellent nesting places for thrushes, wrens, finches & blackbirds in the springtime, & they provide shelter & protection in the winter. The design is printed across the fold & wraps around the card. You'll receive the card flat. If you send it on in the envelope then it has a crease to fold it down the centre. Size: The folded card is 15cm square; or 15cm x 30cm when opened up. Each one comes with kraft envelope with a fabulous coral-coloured liner (I love these envelopes!). It is packaged in a cellophane envelope to keep it safe for posting. If you would like your card, or any other product, to be sent without a protective cellophane then just leave us a note at the check out. This card is one of a collection of cards called 'A Garden for Wildlife...'. The cards are a tribute to my parents who were both excellent gardeners & created little wildlife havens in their gardens. Every card sold from the collection will help to raise money for the ongoing work of the Macmillan Centre at our local hospital here in the Borders. My mum was cared for there for many years & it is a place very dear to my family. They have recently raised £830,000 to expand & improve the facilities. This will make a huge difference to cancer patients in the Scottish Borders. ABOUT THE CARDS All the cards are designed, manufactured & packaged by hand in the UK. They are printed on FSC approved card stock which means that it is sourced from sustainable mixed forests. The original drawings are done in pencil & watercolour. The designs are inspired by the rich variety of the British countryside. I believe it is important that people feel connected with the fields, hedgerows & woodlands around them. Only by loving & enjoying the countryside can we learn to care for it. I love that when someone sends a card they are letting that person know they are valued. I like to imagine posties collecting & delivering the cards, & the journey the cards make by van & air & foot, landing on someone's front door mat & making that person's day.
