Afternoon Envelopes the Homestead - Dixon, New Mexico - original plein air landscape painting by Dawn Chandler This is the sixth of six paintings I did for the competitive Santa Fe Plein Air Fiesta, & the fifth of five I did up in Dixon, New Mexico. This is the view from behind my friend's home, looking up to her neighbor's house the rise just south of her. To me, this scene with the not so distant eroded arid mountains, high desert sage & juniper, & that adobe homestead blending into the landscape just sums up much that I love about northern New Mexico, & Dixon in particular.
