today is the day (no exclamation point) a framed embroidery on handmade paper. This is an original piece of hand embroidered art from a series I started in 2011 & have worked on since. The top & bottom edges of the embroidery have an undefined edge, unlike the sides, with an implication of continuation like rolling paper towel from the tube... wasn't yesterday the day? & can't tomorrow be the day too? Yes!... I spent hours, hand stitching scattered rice stitches using black buttonhole thread on the piece of hand made mixed fibre rag paper. I made this paper in the early 90s & was saving it for the right project. The paper has a few stains from some of the natural flower petals that were in the pulp mixture. The deckled edges have their original uneven torn & wrinkled edges from when I pulled it from the paper making screen. The art is mounted on Stonehenge paper & presented in altered black commercial frames. I reconstructed the interiors with shadow box walls to match the art backing. Signed & dated on the back. Ready to hang.
