This is a print of my original Douglas fir herbarium specimen (pressed botanical) artwork. It was made from a high-resolution scan of the original. It is available with a light or dark background. The plant is Douglas fir (Pseudotsuga menziesii) & features a branch with female cones. It was found in its natural habitat in Oregon & collected by a trained, degreed professional (see my personal profile). An optional, complete collection label is included in the standard location at the bottom right corner of the front of the specimen adding to its scientific appeal. Doug fir, the state tree of Oregon, is not actually a true fir! The female cones of a true fir point upward while those of the Douglas fir point downward. Options: SIZING - The original herbarium specimen was 11x14". However, prints are available in 5x7", 8x10", 11x14" & 16x20"! Smaller sizes are printed on a natural-colored, archival-quality, heavy-weight cardstock, & 16x20" are printed on a heavy, white, poster paper. BACKGROUND COLOR - All sizes are also available with a "Dark Background." in order to preserve the original colors of the plant, the dark background is digitally added to the artwork file prior to printing (on light-colored paper), resulting in a stunning contrast between the vibrant plant & the black background. SCIENTIFIC COLLECTION LABEL - All sizes & background colors are also available with just the scientific name of the plant & printed artist signature in place of the collection label.
