Heading HOmE to the High Country - Philmont by Dawn Chandler LIMITED EDITION PRINTS Two friends I like to think of them as new old friends or old new friends reunited in the high country of Philmont, in northern New Mexico. They stand quietly reverently on the edge of the pond atop Wilson Mesa, as they gaze out to Philmont's highest peak, Baldy Mountain. The original painting was commissioned from an old friend with whom I was a first-year Ranger "back in the day" of the early 1980s. Let these two friends in this landscape be whomever you want them to be... But if that backpacker on the left seems to be wearing a 70s-era yellow Philmont staff shirt & carrying a red Kelty Tioga II pack just like the one I used to have, well, I'm not gonna argue with you.... Oh, & that spelling of "HOmE?" That's a Philmont thing. It stands for Heaven On Earth. Kinda perfect. Speaking of perfect, this print would obviously make a great gift for anyone who loves backpacking, the outdoors, northern New Mexico.... and, of course, Philmont.
