Welcome to MidModMomStore https://midmodmomstore.etsy.com Russian born artist Nikolai Ossipov worked as a book illustrator & as a public works designer in the Ukraine. in 1991 he visited the United States & a year later he emigrated. He lives & works in California. His works are in several museum collections. in the artist's own words "Ideas for my pieces always originate from nature. Each piece of wood also has a unique grain & texture, & I always find that the wood itself dictates its ultimate composition. I pay closest attention to this when selecting the right piece to carve." This unique piece is beautiful in its organic simplicity, a small work of art. I am not sure what kind of wood the artist used, but it is light & free of grain contrast. in fair vintage condition with lots of wear to the surface finish as well as a couple shallow dents to the rim. Price has been adjusted accordingly. Signed on bottom "N. Ossipov, M 5-18." Measures 1 1/4" in diameter at the base, 3 1/2" in diameter at the top, 5 1/2" high.
