I've always loved the fede motif, two hands clasped in loving union, a symbol with roots as far back as Ancient Rome. The traditional fede gimmel design is the result of a slow evolution from the two-band gimmel form, first seen in roughly the 12th century, to the traditional three-band style that became popular during the Renaissance; a poignant version with the hands clasped over a hidden single or double heart, often engraved with a special posy motto on the inner band, the message & heart only revealed when the wearer removed the ring & the trio of bands was opened. An unbreakable bond of devotion & love, deeply felt as an integral part of the greater whole, is the message behind our own version of the evocative fede gimmel design. We've crafted the smooth outer bands in 14k yellow gold & the inner with its softly serrated edge in 14k rose gold for a subtle distinction. Engraved around the center ring is a centuries old posy motto: "Endless Be My Love For Thee." in classic form, one side is the masuline hand with its sleek cuff accented by a glittering brilliant-cut diamond, the other hand has a feminine lacy cuff set with three matching diamonds. With the bands closed the hands display as clasped, a symbol of trust & devotion, with the bands open a heart is revealed. It's a Medieval betrothal custom, an Elizabethan lovers ring, & a timeless symbol of regard & deeply held feeling for another. It's imagery that needs no explanation, a story as old as time. The face of the ring, the hands as clasped, measures 6.77 mm north to south & approximately 11.25 mm east to west & rises approximately 6 mm above the finger. The three bands measure approximately 4.5 mm in total width. & are 2.54 mm thick. Available to custom order in sizes 5-11.
