Shrew original gouache painting on handmade paper, I made in 2023. The size of this painting is 5.5 in wide x 8.5 in tall. This is truly a one-of-a-kind piece, & special to my heart. All of my paintings are inspired by nature, this one, in particular, is inspired by the wildlife found within the woodlands of New Jersey. This painting features a small but mighty shrew, hidden within the blades of grass & flowers of meadows. Each piece of paper is handmade from various pieces of recycled paper, paint pieces, dried herbs & fallen flowers. With the paper-making process, no piece of paper is the same, which makes each one so unique. Once all of the paper is dried, then painting designs are sketched out on each piece & delicately hand-painted with gouache paint, using an intentional color palette inspired by the subject itself. Framing tip: Delicate handmade paper pieces look great in a floating frame, this allows the deckled edges to be seen & preserved :) Need help finding one? Don't hesitate to reach out!
