A pair of antique ladies opera glasses by Grand Lumiere Paris, most likely dating to the 1920s-40s. They may have been used for horse racing too, but as they focus up to about 40 feet, are more for watching the people below, rather than the horses The glasses are covered in black & grey mottled material, which is indicative of the Lumiere brand. They have an adjustable range, which is fully working, but do not adjust in width to the eye. The eye pieces & lens holders are made of metal & both slightly squashed (see photos) Measurements: Height: 11cm (4.25 in) Width: 12cm (4.75 in) Weight: 434g (inc case) Condition: The glasses are in an aged vintage condition as described & shown in the photos, but still have an adjustable focal point. They are dated to the 1920-40s as this was when Grand Lumiere binoculars were most popular, but there is no date marks on the piece itself A recycled item. Eco-packaging when dispatched.
