This adorable little fellow is sure to make you smile! It can be used as a place to rest your keys at the end of the day. Or maybe a safe place to store your jewels, why not fill it full of boiled sweets! The opportunities are endless! Each of my pieces of work are one of a kind, depending on how I feel in that moment when I enter my studio.. The bowl is made using a hand building technique, known as "pinching". I used red clay with 1% grog which I feel enhances the depth in my work. After I have finished pinching the initial shape of the bowl I then start to sculpt the expression onto the bowl. At this stage I feel like my work becomes alive. Originally my influence came from the idea of fancy dress but quickly turned into the essence of who we feel we are ,how we want others to see us or how we truly feel.... Once the bowl is leather hard I then paint it & fire to 1186 degrees. After the second firing I painted the words ,"YOU ARE LOVED" on the back of the bowl using 5% gold luster & re-fired for a third time. The bowl has a clear glaze on the inside so can be used functionally HOWEVER due to the gold luster it CANNOT be placed in the microwave!
