Gold-plated jewelry should be cleaned with a damp cotton cloth or microfiber cloth after each wear to remove surface dirt & grime. Deeper cleaning should be done after exposure to chlorine, alcohol, acids, & sulfur compounds that cause the tarnishing of base metals. How to care for your pearl earrings After each use, clean your pearls with a soft cloth. This will help prevent the buildup of oils or other substances that may have come into contact with your jewelry throughout the day. Clean with a damp cloth only when necessary. If your pearls are visibly tarnished, you can mix a solution of warm water & mild dish soap, wet a soft cloth, & wipe the pearls clean. DO NOT submerge the pearls in water, the chain will be gold-plated. Store them only when they are completely dry. Never clean pearls with steam or ultrasonic jewelry cleaner.
