Description

Day 7 is the Mimic Octopus or Thaumoctopus mimicus. Today I learned that one of the marine animals they can impersonate is a stingray! I found exactly 2 reference photos of this but they both seemed to be mimicking blotched fantail rays & they were in the same position (the "tail" was in front of them & presumably they would swim backwards for the illusion) so I feel confident in my imaginary rendering of this buddy. They don't seem to be able to hide their eye horns very well though. The mimic octopus is found in the Indo-Pacific region, often residing in regions where the seabed is composed of sand or silt at depths less than 15 meters (49 feet), & it has a preference for concealing itself in the murky & muddy sea floors to match its natural brown-beige hue. - Artwork by me - Die Cut stickers in 4 sizes - Printed in house - Waterproof (weatherproof untested) - Not dishwasher safe Mimic Octopus - October Sticker Original Artwork
