Fish Carved Sgraffito Porcelain Mug Height 3" Width 3 1/4'' 10 fl oz capacity + Hand thrown & trimmed on potter's wheel + 3 coats of blue engobe applied + Uniquely designed & hand carved fish scene + Bisque-fired + Glazed in Watts White + Final high fire in gas kiln This piece was thrown & trimmed on a potter's wheel. After brushing on 3 coats of engobe, I sketched the design. I then carefully hand carved the design through the leather hard underglaze & porcelain. This reveals the color of the porcelain beneath. The handle is hand pulled & then attached to the mug. A very slow drying time follows. The white glaze was applied to the rim & interior after the bisque (1st) firing. Each firing yields different & varied results, which is all part of the specialness of handmade pottery making. High fired Porcelain to cone 10. Lead-free glaze.
