Moon jars were made in the 17th to 18th century for storing food or displaying flowers. White was a popular color representing the Confucian ideals of frugality & purity. This mini moon jar blends two porcelain clays in unique, one-of-a-kind patterns. This technique has been used throughout the world & is referred to as nerikomi or neriage in Japan, agateware in the United Kingdom, & millefiori in Italy. Handmade, wheel thrown "mini" moon jar vases. Each vase has a unique shape & marbled pattern. Moon jars are a type of traditional Korean white pottery which was made during the Joseon Dynasty (1392-1910). The name comes from its shape & milky color of the glaze to resemble the moon. Beautiful, decorative ceramic, also ideal for ikebana flower arrangements. Wheel thrown in stoneware ceramic with a matte black & white glaze combination. The two glazes create a "furry" effect & some blue accents where they overlap & each vase has a unique pattern from this. There are 4 vases available. All dimensions are indicated in Length x Width x Height.
