Description

This rare & decorative Georgian hand coloured engraving was produced in Scotland during the early 19th century, circa 1830. The engraving was published by James Lumsden & Son, Glasgow, Scotland. Lumsden & Son were a major Glasgow based publisher of high quality children's books & nursery prints. The engraving is titled 'The Lowland Lassie' & is housed behind old bubbled glass in its original stained wood frame. The print is titled 'The Lowland Lassie' which is a verse from The Highland Laddie, a song written by Scotland's most favourite poet/lyricist Robert Burns. The engraving is one of a pair, each sold separately ('Lowland Lassie' is slightly bluer in tone, due to the old bluey toned glass). The print is perfect for anyone who has a connection with Scotland, or anyone who has a passion for Burns. It also looks stunning displayed alongside early folk art & primitives.
