Antique Apothecary Jar Albarello Dutch Antique Ceramics Netherlands Apothecary jar made of (grayish) white clay, possibly made in Harlingen, Netherlands. A beautiful albarello shaped ointment pot with a grayish blue decoration under a lead glaze. The pot is made around 1920s & is a replica of Delft Blue jars from the 1500-1650 period. The grayish blue color doesn't match with the Delft color but more with the blue they used in Harlingen, Friesland. The glaze craquelure on the outside is fairly even. It is different on the inside, very fine on the bottom, the middle part coarser & at the top under the indentation quite coarse. So a substance has clearly been resident for a long time, at least up to one third of the bottom. in the side patterns some of the glaze is gone here & there. The base has a very nice craquelure, there is a 3 with a stripe underneath. The height is 17,7cm, width 10,7cm, weight 735 grams. The condition is great.
