Description

A set of 3 Victorian Eastlake Aesthetic Movement, cast brass door knob backplate rosettes (finger plate escutcheons) circa 1870's through the 1890's. A wonderful & highly detailed solid cast brass door knob rosette in The Eastlake or aesthetic movement style. Wonderful cobweb spokes & demilune decorations with a textured background. It has a hole for a doorknob as well as a 2 countersunk screw holes. The hole for the doorknob is most likely for an interior doorknob since it's only 7/16" wide on the back & 5/8" on the face. I would suggest using this on an interior door with antique hardware that matches these dimensions. 3-Ornate Victorian Interior Door Knob Back Plate Rosettes 2" wide with a 3/8" protrusion These have two screw holes versus three & as a result, overtime 2 of them have warped slightly in the center from pressure exerted by screwing them into the wood. this slight bending toward the center causes them not to lay perfectly flat on your door, but they are still beautiful & would show very nicely on a Victorian entry door. The price reflects this slight flaw. This is solid brass that was cast & hand polished. This door hardware would look amazing in a Queen Anne, Eastlake/Stick or Italianate Victorian. They're also subtle enough to mix with modern homes! I always choose antique hardware over a new reproduction. You cannot replicate a sense of history & that special patina these pieces have. Especially when the repro costs the same or more! No brainer! :-) I have other styles & types of antique hardware available in my "vintage hardware" section.
