Beautiful silver thimble nicely embellished with an Arts & Crafts border which has space for a monogram. The rest of the thimble is finished with the pin indentations one associates with older thimbles. Tiny French boar's head hallmark. A truly lovely piece that would have been produced for a château or a wealthy household. Since Elizabethen times men were known to give their sweetheart a thimble as a token of their devotion. The abilty to sew would have been an imperative!
