I collect old 19th & early 20th century tableware. I troll flea markets & actually got my start making jewelry as many people did playing around with a torch & old spoons & forks. The spoon that is the base for this piece is turn of the century. I've kept it for years in a drawer in the studio. The skull spider has a story. The spider was an old New Leaf jewelry company piece from the 70's. I actually found an old ad for there line of spoons in an old copy of Easy Rider. Biker Steve from New Leaf was working as a mold cutter at the first casting house I worked with here in NYC. Keith brought me in. Keith was the guy who had carved Keith Richard's skull ring. He carved that little skull. Stevie is one of those old school Harley guys that walked with a cane that was covered in skulls. So he put me up that making the skull spider. Looked real cool on the cane. Despite the accidents over the year I heard recently Stevie still rides. You can wear this & do what I do & hang it in the kitchen. It's good spices & salts. It comes off the chain so if you have some goth themed bar & you want a bunch I can cut you a deal. This is cast as one solid piece in yellow bronze here in NYC. It comes on a 2mm open link bronze plated steel chain. You can choose the length above right. Specs: 4.2 inches long. The spoon is .7 inch wide. 2mm thick at it's thinnest point. Pretty sturdy.
