A nice hand thrown studio pottery plate made by well known Texas studio potter Ishmael Soto. (1932-2017) He graduated from the University of Texas with a BFA & received his MFA from Cranbrook & exhibited at the Syracuse Ceramic Nationals in 1962 & 1964. He taught ceramics at various universities & numerous workshops over the years. This flaring rim bowl is finely crafted & features a large decorated rooster in the center. It measures 10.5" wide by 1.5" tall at the rim. The underside is signed SOTO in ink. The condition is nice & original on this Texas studio pottery bowl.
