Fantastic art glass candle holder by Göran Wärff for Kosta Boda Sweden. This series of candle holders is called Sunflower & was made in different sizes. Very nice condition, no faults Height: 9.5 cm / 3.7" Width: 11 cm / 4.3" Göran Adolf Henry Wärff, born September 17, 1933 in Slite, Othem parish in Gotland County, is a Swedish designer & glass artist. Göran Wärff is the son of the pharmacist Harry Wärff & the textile teacher Inga Nyberg. He studied architecture at the Technische Hochschule in Braunschweig, Germany in 1956-1958 & handicrafts at the Hochschule für Gestaltung Ulm 1958-1959, as well as painting studies in London. Together with his then wife Ann Wärff, he worked as a designer at Pukeberg's glassworks 1960-1964. From 1964 they worked under Erik Rosén at Kosta glassworks (from 1975 Kosta Boda). in 1968, they received the Lunning Prize for jointly designed utility glasses, including the Brava service series. He exhibited separately at Form in Malmö & at Varberg's museum. He participated in a large number of handicraft exhibitions at Liljevalchs konsthall, Röhsska konstslöjdmuseet & in Malmö, Karlstad & Varberg. He has performed a number of public works of art, including the Sydney Opera House in 1976 & the glass baptismal font in Växjö Cathedral. One of his service glazes for Kosta is Rondo. He also worked with the design of children's furniture in wood made in a robust & imaginative style. Göran Wärff was married in 1960-1972 to Anne-Lise Schaeffer (born 1937) & from 2000 to Lena Maria Nilsson (born 1948). Wärff is represented at the National Museum in Stockholm, Röhsska Museum , Malmö Museum, Smålands Museum , Kulturen , Hallands kulturhistoriska museum , Nordiska museet , Tekniska museet , CODE art museums & composers' homes , British museum & Victoria & Albert Museum.
